Mailzilla

Mailzilla is a spam prevention service

How does Mailzilla work?

Mailzilla is a spam decoy service. Whenever you are asked to provide your email address, rather than disclose your true email identity, you instead provide a Mailzilla generated decoy. When a 3rd party sends email to the decoy it is automatically forwarded to your real email account.

Why provide a Mailzilla decoy?

In general, when you supply your email address to any online site, usenet message group or email mailing list you run the risk that your email address will be harvested by a spammer or sold to others. Once your address falls victim to a spammer it will most likely be re-sold over-and-over again and your mailbox will become a spam haven.

By providing a decoy (also known as a disposable email address) to others, the inevitable spammer will never possess your real email address and you can simply deactivate the decoy. A deactivated decoy will not forward the email to your real address and once deactivated, you will never receive spam from that decoy again.
